NVIDIA Is Giving GeForce Owners 3 Months of Discord Nitro Free — Here's How to Claim It

NVIDIA is handing out three months of Discord Nitro, free, to GeForce owners through the NVIDIA app — and the eligibility bar is refreshingly low. You don't need an RTX 50 Series card, you don't need a GeForce NOW subscription, and you don't need to buy anything. A GTX 10 Series GPU or newer is the entire hardware requirement, which covers a card released in 2016.

The catch is the calendar. Claiming opened alongside the Halo: Campaign Evolved launch on July 28, 2026, and the window shuts on August 24, 2026 at 11:59PM PT. There's a second deadline after that one, and missing either voids the reward. Here's everything, including the two conditions that disqualify a lot of people.

Note that those are two separate deadlines. Claiming the reward in the NVIDIA app gets you a code. Applying that code to a Discord account is a second step, and if the code is still sitting unused on September 24 it expires for good. Don't claim it and forget about it.

Who Actually Qualifies

Three conditions, and the second one is the one that trips people up.

1. A GeForce GTX 10 Series GPU or above. This is a genuinely wide net. A GTX 1060 — still one of the most common cards in circulation — clears it. So does anything in the 16, 20, 30, 40 and 50 Series, laptop chips included. 2. You must not have subscribed to Discord Nitro in the past 12 months. This is the big filter. The promotion is aimed at new and lapsed Nitro users, so if you've held Nitro at any point since roughly July 2025, you're out. Existing subscribers can't stack three free months onto an active plan.

3. Your region has to be eligible. The promotion is not available in Ukraine, China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Belarus, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, or Brazil. India, most of Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia are all fine.

It's also first-come, first-served, which is NVIDIA's standard language for a finite pool of codes. If the offer matters to you, treat August 24 as a soft deadline and claim early rather than on the last night.

How to Claim It

1. Create or sign in to an NVIDIA account. The reward is tied to the account, not the GPU serial — but the account needs to have been logged in on a machine with qualifying hardware.
2. Download the NVIDIA app if you don't already have it. It's the replacement for the old GeForce Experience, and it's a free download from NVIDIA's site. If you're still running GeForce Experience, this is a decent nudge to migrate — it's also where the driver and optimisation settings now live.
3. Log in inside the app and open the Redeem section. Rewards only appear once you're authenticated, so a signed-out app will show you nothing.
4. Look for the Discord Nitro reward and claim it. If it isn't listed, you've almost certainly hit one of the three eligibility conditions above.
5. Apply the code to your Discord account — and do it well before September 24.

If the Redeem tab is empty and you're confident you qualify, sign out and back in, then check that the app is actually detecting your GPU rather than falling back to integrated graphics. That's the usual culprit on laptops with hybrid graphics.

For anyone who's never had it, Nitro is Discord's paid tier. The three months cover the usual package:

• HD video streaming — meaningfully better quality when you're sharing gameplay to a server. This is the perk most people notice first, and it's genuinely the difference between a watchable and an unwatchable stream to friends.
• 500MB uploads — up from the free 10MB ceiling, which is the practical difference between sharing a clip and apologising for a compressed one.
• Custom and animated emoji usable across every server.
• 2 Server Boosts included, which you can point at a community you're part of.
• Larger profile customisation, a custom tag, and bigger server limits.

Before the Three Months Are Up

One piece of housekeeping worth doing now rather than in October: check your Discord billing settings before the promo period ends. Set a calendar reminder for late in the third month. Why NVIDIA Is Doing This

This is GeForce Rewards doing what it's built for. NVIDIA has spent the past couple of years pushing owners off the legacy GeForce Experience and onto the NVIDIA app, and third-party perks are a low-cost, high-visibility way to get people to install it and — crucially — sign in. Discord gets a pipeline of new Nitro users who might convert to paying customers after three months. It's a clean trade for both companies, and for once the user genuinely comes out ahead too.

The timing alongside the Halo: Campaign Evolved launch isn't accidental either. NVIDIA bundled the announcement with its Game Ready driver push for Halo and the Gears of War: E-Day beta, so there's a real chance a lot of eligible people install the app for the driver and never notice the Redeem tab.

Bottom Line

If you own basically any GeForce card from the last decade and haven't held Nitro in the past year, this is a free three months for about two minutes of effort. The hardware bar is low enough that most GeForce owners clear it — the 12-month Nitro exclusion is what will disqualify most of the people who get turned away.
