The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is CD Projekt Red's landmark open-world RPG, following monster hunter Geralt of Rivia across a war-torn continent in search of his adopted daughter. Built on REDengine, it pairs dense hand-crafted questing with a huge, detail-packed world that remains one of the most demanding games to render at maximum settings. The 2022 Next-Gen update rebuilt the visuals with ray-traced global illumination, reflections and ambient occlusion, plus NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and DLSS Frame Generation — turning upscaling from a nicety into the key to playable frame rates once ray tracing is on. NVIDIA HairWorks remains its signature GPU tax, while foliage and grass density dominate the raster cost. Modern hardware handles it comfortably at High with upscaling, but Ultra+ with ray tracing still asks for a top-tier GPU.
